Googling Tips:

"quotation marks" will look only for sites with the specified words in the same order

dash between words is inclusive

suspect plagiarism? Input a string of up to ten keywords in quotes

+ ensures a word is present on a page

- ensures a word is not present on a page

~ includes synonyms of the search word
(Google searches many word variations automatically)

Try word stubs to increase hits (eg., assess. will search assess, assessment, assessing...

intitle:searches the titles of Web pages

allintitle:ensures that all keywords are in the titles of pages

define or define: gives definitions of words

info: gives details about a website and who links to the site

filetype: searches for a specific type of file (PDF or PPT or RTF or others)

site: searches within a specific domain or pagetype site:ldcsb.on.ca or site:edu

* for fill in the blank: orson welles died in *
tip: think like a writer online

range: DVD player $100..300 for price range

book... use this keyword to find online books

link: finds sites that link to a specific domain

or will find sites to either of two keywords

and is understood if two or more keywords are specified, Google automatically finds sites with all words present

convert... metric to imperial, or otherwise, just input: 65 miles in kilometers or $4 in Yen

calculate... simply input your favourite math problem for example:200+(9-4*8)/0.52

time in Zurick...

capitalization is not specified for any search

use Google's cache for faster loading pages with search words highlighted

movies and postal code

birthday/birthplace/die+person: birthplace trudeau databases are stored by Google
