ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you have to be Catholic to apply?
The Board is a denominational
employer and preference is given to Catholic Teachers.

the qualifications and number
of applicants for a position
I don’t have a current pastoral reference. What should I do?
The Board prefers an up to date
reference indicating that you are a practicing Catholic.
A reference from your former or ‘home’ priest is acceptable, but not
preferable, if a current reference
is not available. A letter from
your priest, or the Board Pastoral Reference form are equally acceptable.
Is there a deadline for applying?
There is no deadline
however, you are advised to send your completed package to
www.applytoteach.ca as
soon as you can have the supporting documents together.
The application evaluation process begins in early spring.
I don’t have everything listed on the application form to send in.
What should I do?
Graduating students will not have their
Ontario College of Teachers certification yet.
Submit all other required documentation.
Do I also need to apply to individual schools?
No. The interview and selection process is done centrally through
the Human Resources Services Department.
How
do I apply for occasional (supply) teaching positions?
The
application process is the same as for probationary positions.
Interviews for occasional teaching positions are held between the
months of June and September, and then on an "as needed" basis
throughout the school year.
Can I supply teach in May and June before I get my certification?
This is only done in emergency
situations where there are no certified teachers available to supply teach.
This is usually in areas where there is a short supply of certified
teachers (ie French, music, math, science, and religion).
Can I apply for the job postings?
No.
Only current employees are eligible to apply for “Job Postings”.
