Some years ago, the Board of Trustees requested that the Annual Track and Field Meet be re-organized in order to allow for more participation. One particular concern they had was the fact that a child may attend the Meet for an entire day to participate only as a member of a relay team at the end of the day. Other concerns centered around the principle of participation as follows:

1. Can each child have more opportunity to participate?

AND

2. Can more children participate?

THEREFORE

The Track and Field Meet was re-designed by the Department of Physical Education as a means to achieve these aims:

1. More events;

2. More entries per school; and

3. Narrower age classification.

However, in spite of these organizational changes, it is still dependent upon the teachers to try to avoid a situation where a child will only participate in one event. Somehow, a happy medium needs to be reached between the number of children participating and the number of times each child participates. It is the intention of the Department of Physical Education to leave this decision to each school.
