New Posting Procedure for Permanent and Probationary Teachers – applytoeducation.com

Consistent with the Board's Strategic Priorities 2007-2010, Human Resources Services intends to implement strategies identified within the "Accountability Framework : "Use information technology effectively toward enhancing human resources management."

Effective April 15, 2008, all permanent and probationary OECTA members who wish to apply to internal job postings, must register on applytoeducation.com so that they can access internal job postings and submit applications directly to the Board. This practice replaces our previous First Class process and is at no cost to staff. The new procedure is much more efficient for Staff, Administrative Teams and Human Resources Services.

Instruction manuals regarding how to register with applytoeducation.com and how to view and apply to internal job postings can be accessed on the Board web-site under Staff/Human Resources/ Internal Job Postings /Teaching Postings, or in the Teacher conference site on the First Class e-mail system. A copy of the manual has also been attached to this message.

Please contact Human Resources Services or the applytoeducation.com help desk at 1-877-900-5627 if you have any questions regarding the new posting procedure.

The Monsignor Feeney Relay Team is signed up and ready to RUN with the fundraising for the London and Middlesex Children's Aid Society, in the 24 Hour Relay.   Through the generous support of many of you, last year’s Relay proceeds enabled CAS to begin the following worthwhile programs:

Just for Girls Run Club ‑ a learning program for girls age 8 and 12 that combines training for a running event with self esteem enhancing workouts.

Theatre and Storytelling Workshops for youth in care ‑ a creative way for youth to explore issues in their lives.

Grade 9 Success Program ‑ helping youth to increase the number of credits entering grade 9 who are having difficulty in school.

The Bursary Program ‑ offers bursaries to youth in care to support them in post secondary education.

Project CAMP ‑ offers children and youth camping opportunities in the community.

Addiction Services Program ‑ a supportive program for parents who have addiction problems helping them with their parenting skills.

London Cinderella Group ‑ providing girls from low income families clothing for the prom, increasing their social skills, their self confidence and their self esteem.

Young Careers Group ‑ educating youth between the ages of 13 and 16 about mental health issues and provides a network for youth facing mental health challenges.

Funds from the 2008 Relay will support these existing programs and allow CAS to expand the number of children, youth and families they assist.  We would truly appreciate your support.

Mayor's Task Force To End Woman Abuse City of London __________________________________________________________________

The Mayor's Task Force To End Woman Abuse, of which the London District Catholic School Board is a member, has launched a community-based Awareness Campaign: "I Step Forward…to End Men's Violence Against Women". The "I Step Forward" Campaign invites each of us to play a part in identifying situations of abuse and assisting those in need to find help. The Campaign images will be seen on billboards and in transit shelters during the month of November, Woman Abuse Education and Prevention Month in Ontario. Posters were distributed to all schools in London. The Task Force has also established a website as an important community resource to provide help and hope to those in crisis and guidance for those who know someone who needs help now.

Connecting with Your United Way!

For the past several years, employees and students in the London District Catholic School Board have reached their United Way target, thanks to the generosity and hard work of so many people. But our connection goes much deeper than that.  Many LDCSB employees are involved with one or more of the many member agencies of the United Way Campaigns in London/Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford. If you are involved, we would like to hear from you! Please email with the agency that you are supporting with your volunteer hours. (All information will be held in confidence)
