Embracing the Earth - Caring for Creation:

Look what our Eco Teams are Doing!

St. Michael's, Woodstock  has an active ECO Team. As a school community we recycle; every class and office are involved.  (Above) Recycling is collected twice a week and we actively try to keep the school grounds well groomed and free of litter. Our students and our Catholic School Council are involved in gardening with a spring and fall clean up. We also recycle printer cartridges.

Miss O'Grady's Grade 4/5 class along with Mrs. Raycroft's JK/SK class took part in  Earth Day by working together to clean St. Michael's school yard.  Each older student had a little buddy and together they worked to make our playground clean.  What a beautiful day for it!

On Wednesday, April 9th students from the Sir Arthur Carty Eco-Team led a celebration which we named "Green Day". The purpose of "Green Day" was to raise awareness for the environment; the problems we face and the changes we can make. SAC students (who normally wear uniforms) showed their great school spirit by wearing the colour green on this day, and each paid a dollar towards raising money to plant trees in the yard. Many classes also prepared a "green cheer" which was presented in order to earn points towards an ice cream party. They also watched environmentally related movies ("Fern Gully" and "The Lorax") and then went outside to clean up the schoolyard. As a school community, we raised $310. Well done SAC!
