Embracing the Earth - Caring for Creation:

Look what our Eco Teams are Doing!

During Catholic Education Week the St Sebastian students, teachers, parents and school council all participated in many activities to highlight Stewardship of the Earth for an ECO WEEK. The Green Thumbs Club learned how to care for and gently dig holes to plant flowers in the front garden, assisted by Mrs. Watson. Student parliament and NTIP teacher Mrs. Devine-Cookson organized a community garbage pick up with Parent Council, students and principal Barbara Nathoo. We all collected about 20 or more bags of garbage to clean up the corner at Highbury Ave near Rona.  Later in the week Student Parliament gathered intermediate and grade three students to collect water bo ttles to build a large life size sculpture of a cross using around 300 water bottles!&a mp;n bsp; The Grade 2/3 recycling club and Mr. MacDonald had a collection of water bottles exceeding 1000 to help us build it!  A large house was built on the stage in the gym using recycled boxes thanks to the help of students and parent volunteers. Finally, all teachers and students in the school participated in a poster contest to raise awareness about our role in saving the environment.  Our St Sebastian Sharks really care about helping nature and cleaning up our planet and we plan to continue great habits to keep our world beautiful!
