Embracing the Earth - Caring for Creation:

Look what our Eco Teams are Doing!

During all seasons, Notre Dame students can be found raking, cleaning, weeding and mulching in the garden. (Above) It is a valuable resource for various math activities and lessons in conservation. It was during one of these times that the team found a duck's nest among the bushes. The memory of students and teachers who have passed on in the last ten years is celebrated with annual remembrances and maintenance of the plaques and Butterfly Garden. Emily Pratt,  Lauren Kelch, Allie Stinson, Gracie Reid and Logan Norlock are particularly fond of this memorial. Grade 5 students Antonio Bosjnak  and Tristan Cotter direct the younger students in the Recycling Program. Weekly initiatives ( i.e. Litterless Lunch) help raise environmental awareness. Next month these two leaders will conduct a survey to measure the school's ecological footprint. Collection and sorting of recyclable materials is serious business! Brendan Cotter is carrying the bags to the shed. The pop cans are separated towards the 'Cops for Cancer Research" Initiative in our school until June 12th.
