Images of the Inaugural - 2008

The new Chair of the London District Catholic School Board used her inaugural address to outline priorities for 2009 and to thank all of the partners in Catholic Education.
Loren Demelo, who accepted the gavel from 2008 Chair John Ferris, (Left)  told a gathering of Trustees, administrators, staff and friends that a priority will be finding new ways to spread the word of Catholic education. She said that was a clear message from the province-wide discussion known as "Our Catholic Schools. “It’s a message that we need to listen to today and one we need to respond to in the weeks and months ahead,” she said.

"Ontario and the world are better off because of Catholic education," said the Chair. "What our students achieve within the spirit of our Catholic Graduate Expectations and what they take with them when they to out into the world are the real gifts that Catholic education has to offer. Their success stories are our success stories."
Chair Demelo thanked each one of the Trustees individually for their service, citing a combined record of more than 135 years of serving Catholic education around the Board table. She said the Board’s record of using consensus to reach the best decisions is remarkable.

The London District Catholic School Board is proud to present the latest 'Better Schools' newsletter (click Here for a larger file and better quality) for Fall and Winter 2008. This newsletter is a celebration of the accomplishments of our Eco-Teams - the students and staff members who provide leadership for environmental initiatives at our schools. As you read about their many remarkable accomplishments, please take a moment to consider what you might do to make our planet a better place. The Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations call on our students to be responsible citizens who respect the environment and use resources wisely.
We, as a Catholic community, have begun the celebration of Advent and our preparation for the coming of our Saviour. Born in the most humblest of settings, Jesus led of life of simplicity.
How will we make our Christmas one of simplicity so that we reduce our environmental footprint in an increasingly consumeristic world?
