Higher, Faster, Stronger!

6,000 Athletes Strut Their Stuff at Annual Track and Field Meet

There was near-perfect weather for the London District Catholic School Board Hans Janssen Memorial Track & Field Meet this week.. About 6,000 students from both our city and county schools took part over the 3 days of the meet.

The LDCSB Hans Janssen Memorial Track & Field Meet provides an opportunity for Junior, Intermediate and Senior children to participate in events in an exciting atmosphere.
Most importantly, this event allows as many children as possible to engage in physical activity, regardless of ability. The meet was held at TD Waterhouse Stadium at the University of Western Ontario.

This event was specifically chosen to honour Hans in recognition of his twenty-five years of service, bringing quality recreation programming to all students in the district.

Profiling Our Partners...

More than 12-hundred people packed the Convention Centre for the 1st Annual Bishop’s Dinner in London on Wednesday. It was an all-day affair and earlier, young people had a unique opportunity to relate how teens live their faith during a session at St. Michael’s church. (Above) The Bishop also visited Michah's Place, the LDCSB alternative learning centre.
Entertainment at the Dinner included Natalie MacMaster, the award-winning fiddler from Cape Breton, and her husband Donnell Leahy of the musical group, Leahy. Archbishop Luigi Ventura, the Pope’s representative in Canada, was among eight bishops attending the dinner for London and Surrounding Communities. The proceeds from this year’s event will benefit St. Peter’s Institute for Catholic Formation. The Institute was recently established to serve those engaged in leadership in the Catholic Church: priests, deacons, lay ecclesial ministers, Catholic teachers, and others. The  event was organized by a group of dedicated individuals from throughout London and surrounding communities, under the theme, ‘Living the Word of God.’ Bishop Fabbro and his auxiliary bishop, Bishop Anthony Daniels, attended a number of events during the day with the young people of Southwestern Ontario. Bishop Daniels met with newly confirmed young people, participating in a social service project benefiting the Chatham Women’s Shelter.

Our Mission

To serve the Catholic student in a community that nurtures a living faith and provides a quality Catholic education that enables the individual to become a contributing member of the Church and Society.
