 A Celebration of Catholic Education
Catholic Education Week will Shine the Spotlight on our Schools

This year's theme for Catholic Education Week  is "Catholic Education: Good News for All". The five sub-themes, one for each of the five days of Catholic Education Week 2009, help students to understand the rich meaning of this year's theme:

Embracing Hope;  Celebrating with Joy; Building Community; Growing in Integrity; and Living with Gratitude.

Throughout Catholic Education Week, the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association asks you to reflect on the significance of Catholic Education's presence and contribution in our Church, and in our society.

"We invite all members of our community, especially our parents, to participate in the celebrations and activities that will mark the celebration of Catholic Education Week 2009 at our schools." said Wilma de Rond. Director of Education.

Every school will be holding special events during the next week. Parents and caregivers are invited to visit their school's website to find out more. Elementary school websites can be accessed here.  Secondary school websites are here.

Major events include:

*  This year Stewards in Catholic Education Award – the system’s highest award - will be presented on Monday evening to Joe Hattayer, a fixture at the annual Hans Janssen Memorial Track and Field Meet. (Pictured above third from the left, along with former and current Program Department people who nominated him) This is the sixth year for the award, an initiative to profile London District Catholic School Board Graduates who live the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations.  The award will be presented next Monday evening, at the Spirit Awards at Catholic Central High School.

Mediafest 2009 will be broadcast live on Monday, May 4 at 1:15 p.m! We are looking forward to celebrating the work of the students of the London District Catholic School Board. We have a fantastic show ready to broadcast to your school. Mediafest 2009 is a creative and spirited forum that will showcase the talents of our students in the visual arts, media awareness and information technology.
