LDCSB Students Show
Support for Their Communities
in so Many Ways
The London District
Catholic School Board and London District OECTA (Ontario
English Catholic Teachers Association) are pleased to announce
the parties have reached a tentative agreement for regular
contract teachers from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 and
Continuing Education.
The tentative
agreement runs from September 1st, 2008 to August
31st, 2012.
Ratification
to follow.
Exert week, in every school, our students
perform so many selfless acts for so many good causes.
They freely give of their time, their energy, their enthusiasm and
their money. Each year, they raise tens of thousands of dollars for
such causes as Development and Peace, United Way and the Terry Fox
Run, to name but a few. On this page are just some of the amazing
things they have accomplished in just the past little while.
And the list grows every week of the year.
Above, five LDCSB students - two from John Paul ll and three from
Mother Teresa, - used their PD day to help at Hospice of London,
The five spent the day raking leaves at Hospice. "No small feat considering
we have a 2.2 acre property," said Jayne Graham,. Hospice Executive
Director. " I can’t say enough about how the 'Catholic Spirit is Alive'
in these schools for these students’ willingness to help our community,"
she said.
Members of the 'Unique Chaplaincy Team"
from Regina Mundi Catholic College went on a Christmas Prayer Crawl
on Wednesday. They prayed with residents of Marian Villa,
the long-term care facility, and shared Christmas songs. They
also prayed at St. Justin's, Second-Stage Housing and the
Catholic Education Centre.
During November, St. Mary's
High School students were asked to bring in gently used winter wear
to support Operation Sharing's Coats for Kids campaign. The FACE
(Faith through Action in Community for Everyone) student leadership
team created posters and daily announcements to encourage
participation. The response was very good. The challenge was to
fill Vice-Principal, Mr. Verschoore's, office and they came
very close! Operation Sharing was very appreciative of the
donation.
