Board Inaugural Set for Monday

Monday's Inaugural Meeting  will be a first for the London District Catholic School Board. Trustee Loren Demelo was acclaimed  Chair of the  Board for the 2009 school year at this past Monday's organizational meeting. She is the first woman to hold the post since the Board was formed through amalgamation in 1998.

This will be her first term as Chair after eight years on the Board. The new Chair represents the central and south London wards of 11, 12 and 13.

Trustee Demelo  will outline her vision for the upcoming year during the Inaugural   Board meeting on  Monday at the Catholic Education Centre.  The evening will begin with a mass, with Fr. Jim Mockler, Board Chaplain, the celebrant.

Elgin Trustee Bill Hall, a former Chair, was acclaimed as Vice-Chair.

Outgoing Chair John Ferris thanked his fellow Trustees for their support  and cooperation. "As a Board we are recognized as a model that works  collectively,"  he said. "That recognition has been well-earned." Mr Ferris also  thanked the Director, Senior Administration, staff and teachers  for their  commitment to Catholic education.

Contract agreements have been ratified with all LDCSB employee groups within the November 30th framework.

London District OECTA (Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association) voted last night in favour of a new agreement for regular contract teachers from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 and Continuing Education. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4186 membership also ratified the revised collective agreement in voting last night. Their agreement covers support staff.

Province-wide, every one of Ontario's publicly funded Catholic school boards has agreed to new four-year collective agreements covering all elementary and secondary teachers in the province's publicly funded Catholic schools.

Decking the Halls!
