When Faith Meets Pedagogy

More than 16-hundred students from Catholic High Schools across Ontario gathered for the the When Faith Meets Pedagogy Youth Forum last weekend.  They listened  to messages from the Kielbergers from "Free the Children, " talked and exchanged ideas -  particularly regarding ways by which they can serve others and make differences in our world. The theme of the forum was "Voices that Challenge". 75 Students representing all 8 LDCSB high schools attended along with staff advisors.

The keynote speaker was Father Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., CEO of Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, who opened the conference on Thursday evening. Father Rosica was the CEO of World Youth Day in Toronto.

Board Sets Goals for Student Improvement

The London District Catholic School Board establishes annual goals for improving student learning and achievement. The identified areas of focus are based on a needs assessment that establishes the benchmarks, strategies, resources and professional learning that are necessary to achieve success for all students. The Board Plan to Improve Student Learning and Achievement 2009-2010 was approved by the Board of Trustees during the regular meeting this past  Monday.

The plan is published within four areas of focus:· Catholic Faith, Community and Culture · Literacy · Numeracy · Student Pathways.

Each core area provides a framework and goals for implementing the salient areas of student learning and achievement that will guide our work throughout the 2009-2010 academic year.

The Board Plan to Improve Student Learning and Achievement 2009-2010 is hosted for the consideration of all members of the London District Catholic School Board community at  this Website

Members of households with children younger than six months also are  included.

Please check the H1N1 button on the front page of the LDCSB website for updates.
