Board Gets High Marks in Ministry Review

Trustees and Administration are pleased with the results of a Ministry of Education Operational Review conducted during the past school year. The London District Catholic School Board was selected as one of the first boards in the province for the review. The purpose was to provide opportunities for continual improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of non-academic board operations and highlight exemplary practices and processes.
The Operational Review looked at four areas: Governance and School Board Administration; Human Resources Management and School Staffing; Financial Management; and School Board Operations and Facilities. The final report of the Operational Review was released last month. The review found the Board to be “well-managed, based on the fact it has adopted a significant number of leading practices in all of the functional areas reviewed.” It made a number of recommendations, many of which are already being implemented.
The Administration welcomes the final report and views it as positive confirmation of the Board’s policies, practices and procedures. The Trustees echo that sentiment. Board Chair John Ferris called the report an outstanding display of how well the system is doing.
The Ministry of Education plans to conduct operational reviews of all 72 Ontario school boards.
What They Said:

"We should certainly be proud." ... Board Chair John Ferris

"The reports supports the Administration's belief that the Board is well-managed, its operations are conducted within generally-accepted business practices and the Board utilizes many leading practices."
... Supt. of Business Tim Holmes
