Trustee Carty served on the former London Separate
School Board and the County Board for a combined period of 30
years. Mr. Carty has served on numerous Board Committees down
through the years. He has been a Board Vice Chairman and Chairman
and was for many years the Chairman of the Building and Property
Committee. Mr. Carty was honoured by the Ontario Separate School
Trustees Association with an Award of Merit for his contributions
to Catholic Education. He was also named a Knight of Malta and
Knight Commander of St. Gregory the Great an honour granted
by Pope Pius XII for his contribution to Catholic Education
and for his association with Father Patrick Peyton in the World
Rosary Crusade. Mr. Carty was past Chairman of the Board of
Governors of Catholic Central High School. He was a journalist
and free lance writer. Sir Arthur Carty died in 1972.
