Introduction:

What is the context for this scenario?

save a family plan

Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference in the world? The needs are great but your chances to help are even greater!

Together in your role as missionaries, you will learn about Save a Family Plan, share your knowledge and raise money. Your ultimate goal is to make life better for at least one family in India.

As Catholics, our greatest calling is to serve one another particularly those that are marginalized and most vulnerable. That is what young people do... they test the limits, test the boundaries and create new frontiers. They trust their own hearts and have confidence in their families, their communities and their God. Something like the disciples...who were young, too!

Task:

What product(s) will I be creating?

As a team of missionaries you will need to research India and Save a Family Plan. You will incorporate this research into a presentation. Your presentation will create awareness and assist classes and or other schools in developing fundraising ideas to support Save a Family Plan.

You will be required to plan a trip for your team members to visit India to see first hand what a difference you and your group can make.

Process:

What steps do I take to complete the task?

  • a world map with the location of India clearly marked
  • poverty rate
  • Gross Domestic Prodcut (GDP)
  • Percentage of Labour force working in each of the three industries
  • the unemployment rate

Your brochure also needs to include information on Save a Family Plan

  • What is their mission?
  • Summarize the family and community development programs.

Part B - Individual Personal Reflection (separate from Brochure)

  • Explain the structure of government in India
  • Based on your findings, what do you think is the cause of such extreme poverty in India?
  • What links do you see between our faith teachings (scripture) and the mission of Save a Family Plan? Consider the following passages and reflect on at least one. Matthew 25:31-36, Matthew 15:32-39, Luke 9:10-27, John 13:1-20, Romans 12:1-8, Romans 12: 9-21, 2 Corinthians 8:1-15, Galatians 6:1-10, 1 John 3:11-24, Luke 10:25-37.
