Eco-Teams will be launched across the LDCSB in the spring of 2007.

Each school will have its own Eco-Team consisting of student, staff and community members.

 

WHAT IS A SCHOOL ECO TEAM?

A school Eco Team is:
a group who provides leadership for environmental initiatives within the school encourages participation of the whole school by communicating and promoting these initiatives and other environmental events throughout the year

WHO SHOULD BE ON AN ECO-TEAM?

LDCSB Eco-Committee
principals, vice-principals, elementary and secondary teachers, CUPE members, other school/board staff members


Elementary School Eco-Team
Approximately 6 –12 students (majority of whom are Junior-aged to ensure sustainability over the next several years)
At least 1 staff member
Optional members:
A community member and/or parent volunteer
Members of the school custodial staff

Secondary School Eco-Team

This might be your environmental club or committee of the student council...
Approximately 10-20 students
At least 1 staff member
Optional members:
A community member and/or parent volunteers
Members of the school custodial staff

Better Schools Partnership Kick Off Event

  • Transportation to and from the event will be provided for each school’s Eco-Team
  • Release time (1/2 Day) will be provided for each school’s teacher representative
  • Keynote Speaker – Marc Keilburger
  • Please provide 4 photos for a slide presentation:
    • School picture with name clearly displayed
    • Eco-team members
    • 2 photos of environmental activities in your school at present
