Founded in 1999, the Centre
for Excellence became the home of Gifted Education
in the London District Catholic School Board, and the
CFE Website, became one of the most popular sites for
gifted students in the province of Ontario.
The development of Rich
Performance Tasks grew out of cross-curricular workshops
developed to teach teachers the potential for using
engaging scenarios to motivate learners. The transfer
of this work to the World Wide Web led to a menu of
tasks that received over 3000 page views per week from
around the world in the 2006-2007 school year!
Produced under contract for the Ontario Knowledge
Network for Learning, the Gifted
e-Learning Centre Website in 2001 became host to
content for parents, teachers and students province-wide.
Engaging intermediate students in Robotics design
and construction, the Robotics
Challenge gave students access to web resources
and an environment to share their creations via RoboTeam
Webpages. This was one of the first formal programs
to teach students both Web design, and Robolab computer
programming.
