What is French Immersion?
The Early
French Immersion Program begins in Junior Kindergarten,
Senior Kindergarten or Grade 1. It offers 90% French instruction in
the classroom until the end of Grade 3. English instruction is gradually
introduced beginning in Grade 1. All subjects are taught in French
except for English, Choices Into Action, and Religion.There are 2
schools across the LDCSB that offer entry to the Early Immersion program.
The program continues to the end of secondary school and students
who successfully complete a minimum of twelve credits in French are
eligible for a Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion.
All communication to parents,
including report cards, is in English. Parents are kept informed through
weekly newsletters along with regular classroom newsletters. The Early
French Immersion program is open to all Catholic students residing in London, Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford.
