ELIGIBILITY FOR THE CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA PROGRAM Registration for Grade 5 is open to Grade 4 students attending schools within the London District Catholic School Board. A prerequisite for entrance into St. Mary School is that the candidate is a Catholic student. Should vacancies occur in Grade 6, consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high degree of musical ability and motivation.
AUDITION AND SELECTION PROCESS All students will participate in an audition at St. Mary School. Each student will be assessed on his/her vocal music ability. First priority for placement in the Choir and Orchestra Program will be given to students in Grade 4 who:
- demonstrate high vocal ability and a “good ear” for music
- are academically competent
- have good work habits
- are responsible and demonstrate self-discipline in all aspects of their school life
- are recommended by the home school on the basis of the above
- demonstrate an interest in music through involvement in school, parish and/or community choirs
- are interested in participating in the related arts education program – Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Arts.
Every attempt will be made to ensure equitable representation from the various schools represented in London and surrounding counties.
