Summer Reading 2010!

Studies have shown that students who continue to read for pleasure or learning over the summer months maintain or even increase their literacy skills -- giving them a good head start on learning when they return to school. On the other hand, students who don't read over the summer holidays actually lose a percentage of the literacy skills that they worked so hard to develop over the school year, which can lead to difficulties in the new school year.

Reading as little as 4 or 5 books over the summer can make all the difference! Here are some tips, activities and awesome links to help you and your child make the most of summer reading fun!

Summer Reading Programs

Both Middlesex County Public Library and London Public Library offer Summer Reading programs for children, pre-teens and even teens! Be sure to visit the library web sites listed below for details, or visit your local branch for more information about these fun reading programs and register your children.
